We’ve always quite fancied a little jaunt to Barcelona to take in a bit of F1 action and we finally have the time on our hands to make the pilgrimage to Circuit de Catalunya to see just how sexy the MRT05 is in the flesh.
We are making a little mini-break of it so will be gone for more than a few days, so that means the blogs I know you all live and die by will not be appearing for a week or so. Sometimes it is nice to remind yourself that there is more to world than F1. It will be nice to feel some sun on our pale blue Scottish skin.
However, don’t fret too much. We will still tweet from the track and hopefully get some great pictures which I will share with you mobile phone battery permitting. I will also try to do a few Periscope live videos once the MRT05 has graced us with its presence. You can find us on Twitter here – @
I won’t be tweeting lap times and all that jazz. For reason we fail to understand, there seems to be no lack of people who are not at the track already doing that. We recommend using Autosports Live testing page, it was excellent last week.
So what can we expect to see over the next few days? Last week Manor did limited running on the soft options tires and did not set a time on the super soft qualifying tire so we should expect to see some glory laps by Wednesday or Thursday. I don’t expect the top teams to show their hand at all so don’t get too excited if we see Manor ahead of some established top teams. The main aim of this testing week will to make sure the car is ready to run 60+ continuous laps with the aim of finishing the first few fly away races. Melbourne in-particular has a high attrition rate and these early races maybe our best chance of points this season. Last year Sauber built a tank of a car and it’s ability to finish races in the early part of the season is what helped them finished ahead of McLaren in the constructors championship.
Till next week – Adios!
